The Federalist Party ran the table. In the 2026 Mountaineer Boys State general election, Federalist nominees won all six statewide constitutional offices — a clean sweep, and one the primary turnout didn’t forecast, since Nationalists had cast more primary ballots than Federalists (157 to 131). A total of 286 ballots were cast Tuesday.
At the top of the ticket, Jaxson “Action” Rappold (Federalist) cruised to the Governor’s office with 205 votes (71.68%), defeating Coleman “Coalman” Nutter (Nationalist), who took 67 (23.43%). Write-ins drew 14 votes (4.90%) — the only race where they made a real dent.
The thriller of the night was Commissioner of Agriculture, where Kelvin “Greenhouse” Greathouse (Federalist) edged Kahlil Clements (Nationalist) 144 to 141 — a three-vote margin, 50.35% to 49.30%, with a lone write-in. It was the only statewide contest decided by less than 10 points.
The rest of the ticket was more comfortable. Caden Yao (Federalist) posted the night’s biggest win, taking Treasurer with 82.33%. Leroy Song (Federalist) claimed Secretary of State with 76.49%, and Thomas Farrell (Federalist) won Attorney General with 68.53% over Nationalist nominee Shane “Good Shepherd” Shepherd. The closest of the decisive wins went to Deacon Stanislawczyk (Federalist), who held off Adrien Constable-Knight (Nationalist) 158 to 128 for Auditor.

A total of 286 ballots were cast, with no blank ballots. A few contests saw slight undervotes — Secretary of State recorded 285 votes and Treasurer 283 — meaning a handful of citizens skipped those races. All figures are unofficial until canvassed.
The American Legion Mountaineer Boys State runs its elections to mirror how West Virginia fills its offices, walking high school citizens through the primary, the nonpartisan judicial races, and the fall general election. Congratulations to every candidate who put their name forward — and to the new statewide officeholders.
